Day 1: Wednesday, September 25: travel and First Glimpses
American nonstop flight #7444 departs Austin 10:00am, arrives Seattle 12:30
Lunch in Uwajimaya Market in Seattle’s bustling Chinatown
Wing Luke Museum (Asian culture)
Stroll Pike Place Market, a cornerstone of Seattle culture
Check in: Alexis Royal Sonesta (1901 building from the city’s first big period of growth)
Day 2: Thursday, September 26: Historic Seattle
St. James Cathedral (1907): tour of distinctive stained glass and icons
Stimson-Green Mansion (1901)
Town Hall Seattle (1922 Christian Science Church now a community center)
Lunch at MariPili @ Frye Art Museum
Frye Art Museum’s Frye Salon, 100 paintings arranged 19th-century style

Monorail ride to Seattle Center
Space Needle (1962 World’s Fairlandmark) ride to the top to enjoy remarkable views
Chihuly Garden at the foot of the Space Needle
Monorail return ride, back to hotel
Optional stop: Four Seasons Hotel (largest collection of Pacific NW art outside a museum)

Day 5: Sunday, September 29: Modern Seattle
Depart hotel, visit Queen Anne Hill: final views of Seattle from Kerry Park

Farewell brunch: White Swan Public House, Lake Union waterfront
Transfer to Seattle-Tacoma Airport for homeward flights, including 5:47 departure of American #7587, arriving in Austin at midnight

History of the NCHM Study Tours
Founded by NSCDA-TX President Mary Etzold in 2005, the NCHM study tours feature itineraries rich in architectural history, particularly historic house museums, enriching the travelers’ perspectives on the achievements and challenges of NCHM and sister historic properties; special events including receptions with Dames in other states; special exhibitions; offerings in the performing arts; and general sightseeing; historic hotels, chartered transportation, fine dining; groups limited to 20 per tour. These tours have cemented good friendships among travelers and sustained support for the NCHM.
